Most phone numbers in Macau are written in the following formats:
Prefix: long distance or international
--------------------------------------
| Carrier or area code
| --------------------
| | Subscriber number
| | -----------------
v v v
SSSS SSSS - Local format
+853 SSSS SSSS - International format
Most telephone numbers in Macau have 8 digits and are written in the format of "SSSS SSSS". Here are some examples: 2886 1111; 2878 5465,.
When dialing locally inside Macau, dial the phone number directly as "SSSS SSSS". Long distance prefix is not needed.
When dialing from outside of Macau, the international dial-in prefix "+853" is required. So the format becomes "+853 SSSS SSSS".
When dialing from Macau to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "00" required.
To validate phone number formats for other countries or regions, see our Generic Phone Number Format Validator.
