Phone Number Format in Cameroon
What is the Phone Number Format in Cameroon?
✍: FYIcenter.com
Most phone numbers in Cameroon are written in the following formats:
Prefix: long distance or international
--------------------------------------
| Carrier or area code
| --------------------
| | Subscriber number
| | -----------------
v v v
AA SS SS SS - Local format
AAA SS SS SS - Local format
+237 AA SS SS SS - International format
+237 AAA SS SS SS - International format
Most telephone numbers in Cameroon have 8, 9 digits and are written in the format of "AA SS SS SS", "AAA SS SS SS". Here are some examples: 22 30 30 90; 33 43 37 30; 233 42 35 77; 683 79 25 11.
When dialing locally inside Cameroon, dial the phone number directly as "AA SS SS SS", "AAA SS SS SS". Long distance prefix is not needed.
When dialing from outside of Cameroon, the international dial-in prefix "+237" is required. So the format becomes "+237 AA SS SS SS", "+237 AAA SS SS SS".
When dialing from Cameroon to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "00" required.
