that allows you to send and receive texts, photos, videos, and audio messages
with all cellphone users.
Yes, you can use the MMS technology on your iPhone using the Messages app. If you send and receive messages with a friend without Internet connection, the Messages app will automatically uses the MMS technology. "Settings > Messages > Send as SMS > On/Off" controls this behavior.
The MMS technology is an enhancement to the SMS (Short Messaging Service) technology. You can send and receive videos of up to 40 seconds in length, single images or slideshows, and audio clips to any of your friends, using iPhone or other cellphones.
Sending and receiving text messages using the MMS technology requires you and your friends to have text messaging services from wireless carriers.
Sending and receiving photos, videos, audio, and other files using the MMS technology requires you and your friends to have celluar data services from wireless carriers.
The MMS technology has a limit on the size of messages or files your can send and receive. This limit is usually set to 300 KB by phones and/or wireless carriers.
