✍: FYIcenter.com
Most phone numbers in Nigeria are written in the following formats:
Prefix: long distance or international -------------------------------------- | Carrier or area code | -------------------- | | Subscriber number | | ----------------- v v v 0 A SSS SSSS - Local format 0 AAA SSS SSSS - Local format +234 A SSS SSSS - International format +234 AAA SSS SSSS - International format
Most telephone numbers in Nigeria have 8, 10 digits and are written in the format of "A SSS SSSS", "AAA SSS SSSS". Here are some examples: 1 493 3385; 9 870 5477; 810 997 0533; 803 313 8999.
When dialing locally inside Nigeria, the long distance prefix of "0" is required. So the format becomes "0 A SSS SSSS", "0 AAA SSS SSSS".
When dialing from outside of Nigeria, the international dial-in prefix "+234" is required. So the format becomes "+234 A SSS SSSS", "+234 AAA SSS SSSS".
When dialing from Nigeria to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "009" required.
