Most phone numbers in Sri Lanka are written in the following formats:

Most telephone numbers in Sri Lanka have 9 digits and are written in the format of "AA SSS SSSS". Here are some examples: 11 226 4444; 76 137 7919.

When dialing locally inside Sri Lanka, the long distance prefix of "0" is required. So the format becomes "0 AA SSS SSSS".

When dialing from outside of Sri Lanka, the international dial-in prefix "+94" is required. So the format becomes "+94 AA SSS SSSS".

When dialing from Sri Lanka to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "00" required.
