What Is the CE Marking on My Phone
What does CE stand for? And what does the CE # mean on my phone?
✍: FYIcenter.com
CE stands for Conformité Européenne, French for "European Conformity".
The CE # identifies the registration ID of the notified body
who certified the phone according to CE regulations.
The manufacturer can also certified its own phone.
If your phone is certified to be sold in EU (European Union),
you can find the CE # of your phone usually on the back cover.
For example,
on the back cover of a Samsung Galaxy phone.
CE marking consists of 3 parts, CE logo, notified body code and alert symbol, as shown below:
CE logo ------- | Notified body code | ----------------- | | Alert symbol | | ------------ | | | v v v CE 0168 !⃝
The alert symbol !⃝ indicates that the phone is Class II device and does not follow "harmonized frequency bands" restrictions in EU.
Here are some examples of FCC ID #s:
"CE 0168 !⃝" - Certified by TUV SUD BABT and a Class II device "CE 0682 !⃝" - Certified by Cetecom ICT Services and a Class II device
For example, the following picture shows you a CE marking of "CE 0682 !⃝" printed on the back cover of an Apple iPhone.
The following picture shows you a CE marking ID of "CE 0168 !⃝" printed on the back cover of a Sumsang Galaxy iPhone.
