Most phone numbers in Zambia are written in the following formats:

Most telephone numbers in Zambia have 9 digits and are written in the format of "AAA SSS SSS". Here are some examples: 211 229 087; 766 733 140.

When dialing locally inside Zambia, the long distance prefix of "0" is required. So the format becomes "0 AAA SSS SSS".

When dialing from outside of Zambia, the international dial-in prefix "+260" is required. So the format becomes "+260 AAA SSS SSS".

When dialing from Zambia to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "00" required.
