✍: FYIcenter.com
Most phone numbers in Japan are written in the following formats:
Prefix: long distance or international -------------------------------------- | Carrier or area code | -------------------- | | Subscriber number | | ----------------- v v v 0 A SSSS-SSSS, A - Local format +81 A SSSS-SSSS, A - International format
Most telephone numbers in Japan have 19 digits and are written in the format of "A-SSSS-SSSS, AA SSS-SSSS". Here are some examples: 6-6344-2355; 3-5757-8111; 11-707-1122, 93-512-7320.
When dialing locally inside Japan, the long distance prefix of "0" is required. So the format becomes "0 A-SSSS-SSSS, AA SSS-SSSS".
When dialing from outside of Japan, the international dial-in prefix "+81" is required. So the format becomes "+81 A-SSSS-SSSS, AA SSS-SSSS".
When dialing from Japan to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "010" required.
