Most phone numbers in Sweden are written in the following formats:

   Prefix: long distance or international
   --------------------------------------
   | Carrier or area code
   | --------------------
   | | Subscriber number
   | | -----------------
   v v v

0 AA SSS SS SS - Local format
+46 A SSS SS SS - International format
+46 AA SSS SS SS - International format

Most telephone numbers in Sweden have 8, 9 digits and are written in the format of "A SSS SS SS", "AA SSS SS SS". Here are some examples: 10 109 00 00; 77 152 05 20; 8 797 4000; 8 720 0022.

When dialing locally inside Sweden, the long distance prefix of "0" is required. So the format becomes "0 A SSS SS SS", "0 AA SSS SS SS".

When dialing from outside of Sweden, the international dial-in prefix "+46" is required. So the format becomes "+46 A SSS SS SS", "+46 AA SSS SS SS".

When dialing from Sweden to other countries, the international dail-out prefix "+" or "00" required.
